HEAT STRESS - SOMRURALS
Heat stress is one of the major challenges facing modern agriculture, and at Promisol we are working to find a solution. Following four years of collaboration with the University of Granada, we have found that antioxidant formulations work well against water and salt stress, but are not sufficient to combat heat. For this reason, we have been conducting trials with the Centre for Agrigenomics Research (CRAG-UAB) until August, and the research is now continuing at the University of Granada.
Our aim: to protect photosystems from heat and stimulate the synthesis of heat shock proteins (HSPs), which protect membranes and other cellular structures. We are working with soya, pulses and berries, and our solution, which is applied to the leaves, will be transparent so as not to alter the colour of the fruit.
